Last Sunday was the first round of Streetmasters, the dutch extreme sport series. It was held all the way up north, so we (Me, Bodean and Milan) left in the morning for a 2,5 hour drive. I saw some new faces, so that is a positive thing, now lets hope the riders aren't scared to leave there town for the next stop! The contest started around 3 o'clock and there were 8 competitors. Bodean was MC and judge and did a excellent job! We did a battle format and the crowd really liked it. The final was me against Navid. I pulled some good links on the shitty floor and Navid was having a hard time with it, so I took the win. After that we made a stop at the Burger King since we only survived that day on a croissant and Monster Energy! After we had a small session and then it was time to drive back home! Until the next round!

Result:
1. Dez Maarsen
2. Navid Saleki
3. Milan van Roon

A few weeks ago I flew with my girlfriend to Switzerland for the Bike Days 2010 in Solothurn. Our flight was leaving Friday-night, because I had a few shows all the way in the south of in Holland. Stephan Kornely helped me out with the shows, since the other riders where injured or on holidays. We decided to go by car, but that turned out as a bad idea! We got lost on the way to our destination and on the way back we where getting stuck in traffic-jams and we where approaching a massive traffic jam at Rotterdam. Since I'm not familiar with the roads and we didn't had a GPS, we decided to park the car at the nearest train-station and go by train. After a lot of stressing I made it at the airport and my sweet girlfriend was there with all my stuff!

The trip to Solothurn was a lot nicer, we got all the right connections and arrived at 12 o'clock in the night at our bed&breakfast. All the hotels where fully booked since Solothurn is a small city and the Bike Days is a big event! We where lucky to find a B&B which was a small apartment with a kitchen and all the other basic stuff you need!

The next day was qualification time! The weather was awesome and the floor was nice to, allthough it was small. It had been a while since I entered a contest (Worlds 2009 was my last one) so it took me a while to get my nerves and new tricks under control. The contest format was nice, groups of three had to ride in jam format. I rode really good and pulled some good link, I ended up qualifying 3th bellow Matthias and Uchhie. At night there was a jam/show in the indoor place of the event, which was a lot of fun! Chris Bohm was crazy as always during shows, so that was fun to watch. After that we went to a bar/club. Drinks are fucking expensive in Switserland so we didn't stayed for too long.

Sunday was the day of the finals. It was a battle format but also not. Riders where jugded separately. I had to go against Matthias. I didn't start good, so I got stressed and only pulled one mega link, which was unfortunally not enough to make it in to the top 4. I ended 5th.

I can look back at a nice holiday and a really well organized event! The riders where taken good care off! I'll probably will be back next year! Enjoy the photo's!

My birthday was on the 29th of December. I turned 21, that sounds really old! So to celebrate it good we dropped down a session at our indoor spot! Around 20 riders showed up! Thats the most dutcht riders together i think since the last Flatground maybe more! Most of the riders where beginners so i looking out to a bright 2010 for our scene. So watch out, new talent is coming! It turned out to be a great day! Everybody was hungry to ride, so the timing couldn't have been any better. We closed down 2009 with a great session!

Sam was so kind to give me a nice present.

New Kids on the Block. Keep on riding guys!

Omar made a nice video report from the jam. Not much hardcore riding but a good impression of what was going down!

Bodean Michael Nico and Calvin Tan went to Germany for the Flatland Fanatics competition. Here is a nice photo of Bodean during the comp. He became 8th after qualifying 5th! Michael was sadly under-rated and didn't qualified for the final with an 9th place. Calvin Tan became 8th and posted some nice photo's from the trip on his blog!

Breakfest is organized by bureau Pinkpop. Pinkpop is a big festival every year and it's a great succes with big international artist. At Breakfest there was a lot to see and to do! From breakdance battles to Sven Boekhorst (Inline X Games Champion) Mind the Gap who was really awesome! Jesse de Doelder organized a small flatland jam and I had to be there with Ish to perform on the bigstage! It was a long day but the show was really nice!

James Alberto representing LostBmx! New tees coming soon!

The final round of Streetmasters was finally there. I do have to say, this wasn't the best Streetmasters. That was definitely the one in Amsterdam! This time it was a very windy day and the flatland part was literally pushed in a corner. So the atmospheer was not so good! Officially there were 9 riders in the finals, but since Wouter van der Linde wasn't allowed to go by his parents, we ended up with 8 riders. Because of the scores everybody got in the previous rounds, the battle schedule was really unfortunate for some people. Sietse and Erik were head to head in the first round and Sietse got knocked out! This was really sad for him since he became 2nd twice and ended up third once in the previous rounds. Michael was up against Milan and this was a hard decision for the jury but Milan won. The total result was:

1. Dez Maarsen (LostBmx)
2. Erik Hogers (LostBmx)
3. Milan van Roon (LostBmx)
4. Bodean Maarsen (LostBmx)
5. Michael van der Kroft(LostBmx)
6. Sietse van Berkel (Nieuwedijkse Stuntfiets Vereniging)
7. Gino Stuart
8. Jorit van Drumpt

So I won the €500,-! I sure hope more riders will enter next year!

Bodean 4 times 4th.

Photo was made by Bram. My axle got fucked up, James was kind enough to lend me his front wheel!

That was Streetmasters 2009! I heard there is a big article in the national news paper, i'll be posting it later on. It sure was fun, but we can work on a lot of things to make it a better contest. So till then, just practice!

This time the location of Streetmasters was Amsterdam, a day we all have been waiting for! With a perfect location at the Museamsquare, in the center of Amsterdam and perfect weather the day couldn't go wrong!

Nine riders entered the competition, which is a lot for Holland so that was cool. We made pools and I ended up against our LostBmx member Erik Hogers. Sietse van Berkel was competing for the 3e place against my brother and crew member Bodean Maarsen.

There was a good crowd and Hoite Polkamp was on the mic, so everything went perfect! The battle against Erik was fun, we started out with a real battle to see who of us could do which trick. Erik wasn't pulling his bunny whips, maybe he was still traumatised from his crash. But later on I dropped some links, not all of them were clean since everything went so fast and I had no time to rest.

I heard the judges had some discussions about who should have won, but in the end I won again!

The results were:

1. Dez Maarsen (Me)
2. Erik Hogers (LostBmx)
3. Sietse van Berkel
4. Bodean Maarsen (LostBmx)

Bram also made a small report at Dutchflatland, check it out!

Last Saturday Streetmasters was held in Dordrecht! They have a pretty nice skatepark which is build under a bridge that works as an elevator! It's pretty weird to see! Six riders showed up to compete and there were three judges, so we had good session! The vibe was really 'ghetto' but that was what made it really cool!
Streetmasters Sietse

A few crackheads were going totally nuts during the final battle, it was really funny. Hope someone made a picture of them! Everything went very well! But I had nasty crash, so my arm is pretty scarred:(
Streetmasters Dordecht

The results were:

1. Dez Maarsen (Me)
2. Sietse van Berkel
3. Michael van der Kroft

Next week Streetmasters in Amsterdam! Looking forward to this one! Great location and great vibe!
