A few weeks ago I flew with my girlfriend to Switzerland for the Bike Days 2010 in Solothurn. Our flight was leaving Friday-night, because I had a few shows all the way in the south of in Holland. Stephan Kornely helped me out with the shows, since the other riders where injured or on holidays. We decided to go by car, but that turned out as a bad idea! We got lost on the way to our destination and on the way back we where getting stuck in traffic-jams and we where approaching a massive traffic jam at Rotterdam. Since I'm not familiar with the roads and we didn't had a GPS, we decided to park the car at the nearest train-station and go by train. After a lot of stressing I made it at the airport and my sweet girlfriend was there with all my stuff!
The trip to Solothurn was a lot nicer, we got all the right connections and arrived at 12 o'clock in the night at our bed&breakfast. All the hotels where fully booked since Solothurn is a small city and the Bike Days is a big event! We where lucky to find a B&B which was a small apartment with a kitchen and all the other basic stuff you need!
The next day was qualification time! The weather was awesome and the floor was nice to, allthough it was small. It had been a while since I entered a contest (Worlds 2009 was my last one) so it took me a while to get my nerves and new tricks under control. The contest format was nice, groups of three had to ride in jam format. I rode really good and pulled some good link, I ended up qualifying 3th bellow Matthias and Uchhie. At night there was a jam/show in the indoor place of the event, which was a lot of fun! Chris Bohm was crazy as always during shows, so that was fun to watch. After that we went to a bar/club. Drinks are fucking expensive in Switserland so we didn't stayed for too long.
Sunday was the day of the finals. It was a battle format but also not. Riders where jugded separately. I had to go against Matthias. I didn't start good, so I got stressed and only pulled one mega link, which was unfortunally not enough to make it in to the top 4. I ended 5th.
I can look back at a nice holiday and a really well organized event! The riders where taken good care off! I'll probably will be back next year! Enjoy the photo's!
Last Tuesday I did a show at my future college "INHolland" in Rotterdam. The students there have a project because of the start of the "Tour de France" in Rotterdam. The weather was great, it was still early and Rotterdam has a great spot, so we decided to stay and have a nice session.
The weather was shitty, so it was nice to do a jam session at the indoor training spot. Jeroen and Stan two beginner riders from the high north of the country came, along with Wouter en Collin to have nice sunday session. The vibe was good and I hoped it motivated the riders a lot! Wouter landed his first halfpacker and got it on tape, he also filmed a few tricks with a nice slomo at the end, so check it out!
